How to Analyze Recipe Nutrition

There are four ways to analyze recipes with the Recipe Nutrition Analyzer tool. After accessing the tool, you can analyze the recipes by:

  1. Entering the recipe ingredients
  2. Searching for a recipe
  3. Analyzing from a URL
  4. Analyzing from an image

You can access the tool on the homepage and also from My Account by clicking on Add Recipe or Recipe Analyzer.

Steps

  1. Click Enter Ingredients.

Paste or type ingredients one per line in the format quantity + unit + ingredient.

Optional: Click Sample Recipe to load example data, then adjust.

  1. Set Servings and, if needed, enable Calculate serving size. Choose Display units.
  2. Click Analyze Recipe.

Tips:

  • Use standard units (g, ml, cups, tbsp, tsp).
  • Replace vague amounts (e.g., “a handful”) with measured quantities.
  • Use Clear Ingredients to start over.

Method 2: Search Recipe

  2. Enter a dish name (e.g., bolognese, chicken alfredo) and click Search.

  3. Click Load Recipe to extract the ingredients.
  4. Review and edit the extracted list.
  5. Set Servings and, if needed, Calculate serving size.
  6. Click Analyze Recipe.

Notes:

  • The source page must contain a recipe and be publicly accessible (no paywalls/private areas).
  • If extraction is incomplete, add missing ingredients manually.

Method 4: Analyze from Image

Steps

  1. Click Analyze from Image.
  2. Upload a PNG/JPG (up to 7 MB) by clicking the upload area or dragging a file.

  4. Click Analyze Recipe.

Tips for Best Results:

  • One dish per photo: Upload an image containing a single recipe or dish for accurate analysis.
  • Close-up shots: Focus on the food itself rather than table settings or decorations.
  • Avoid clutter: Minimize background distractions like utensils, napkins, or other dishes.

Settings Available in All Methods

These controls appear on every tab:

  • Servings – Set the number of servings using – / +.
  • Calculate serving size – Enable to estimate/standardize serving size and compute per-serving values automatically.
  • Display units – Choose units for amounts where available (e.g. g , oz , ml , L , cups , fl oz ).
  • Analyze Recipe – Click to generate the nutrition facts after ingredients are ready.

Note: You can edit the ingredient list at any time before analyzing.

After You Analyze

  • The results show nutrition per recipe and per serving (calories, macronutrients, and additional nutrients where available).
  • If values look off, return to the ingredients, units, or servings, make adjustments, and click Analyze Recipe again.

Troubleshooting

  • Ingredient not recognized – Replace with a generic equivalent and specify a clear amount/unit.
  • Numbers too high/low – Confirm serving count, unit type (g vs oz), and raw vs cooked amounts.
  • URL didn’t load – Ensure the link is public and contains a structured recipe; otherwise, use Enter Ingredients.
  • Image detection poor – Use a sharper, closer photo of a single dish and correct the list manually.
